With just three months until the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, excitement is building for the 25th anniversary of the race.
Race analyst and trainer Mark Bravo highlighted the significance of the new 6.55-mile Quarter Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, alongside the half and full marathon.
Participants can pair it with the 5K on Saturday for extra shirts and medals, though the Quarter and Full or Half Marathons cannot be done together.
"It’s a different year—25 years of racing," said Bravo.
He also highlighted the Senior Marathon, a 2K event for participants 60 and older, as a fun way to get involved.
"The Senior Marathon is fun and a great way to get involved," Bravo said. "It’s all about logging 25 miles before race day, and then finishing up the final stretch."
Beyond the physical challenge, the marathon continues to honor those lost in the 1995 bombing. Bravo emphasizes, "You’re doing great things—not only for yourself, but you are helping folks by honoring the memories, honoring those lost and changed forever." The race remains a destination event, drawing runners from across the country. "If you can be a part of this race, more people want to be a part of it than ever," Bravo said.
As race weekend approaches April 26-28, organizers are still waiting for a runner from Rhode Island to complete the full 50-state participation.
