Man arrested after fatal crash into North Canadian River

One man is in custody after a crash over the weekend left one person dead, according to police.

Oklahoma City Police say Alfredo Ortiz was at a house party with Fernando Perez-Gallegos on Friday night.

Police said Ortiz told investigators he remembers speeding, which is when police say he lost control and rolled before hitting a tree and going into the North Canadian River.

Perez-Gallegos died at the scene. Ortiz left the crash but came back later in the day.

Ortiz was arrested on a first-degree manslaughter complaint.
