What to know in the event of a fire
When there is a wildfire, do not underestimate how fast the flames can spread.
Logan said in 2024, the wildfire in Ellis County spread over 11 miles in 45 minutes, pushed by heavy wind speeds in the area that also hampered aerial firefighting efforts.
According to Logan, the Oklahoma Forestry Service says wind speeds of over 40 miles will force the agency to ground its firefighting aircraft.
Be sure to be on the lookout for alerts from local authorities concerning possible evacuations in the event of a wildfire.
