Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced that a price gouging statute will be in effect for 12 counties affected by the Oklahoma wildfires.
"Oklahoma consumers reeling from the wildfires can be assured they will be protected from unfair price hikes and fraud," Drummond said in a statement.
This statute is referenced in the Emergency Price Stabilization Act, which prohibits the increase of more than 10 percent for the price of goods and services.
The statute is in effect for the following counties:
More than 130 wildfires were reported across the state on Friday, March 14. Some of those fires are yet to be contained.
