The first-ever Okie Women Film Festival, celebrating female filmmakers from across Oklahoma, is set to debut at the Yale Theater next Sunday, March 30, in Oklahoma City.

The festival received about 80 film submissions, with 20 selected for screening. Organizer Lily Tucker, a recent college graduate, created the event to provide a dedicated space for women in the state’s film industry.

"I wanted there to be a space for just Oklahoma women filmmakers to have their spotlight moment," Tucker said.

Screenings begin at 2 p.m., and tickets are $10 at the door. However, attendees can receive free entry by donating feminine hygiene products such as tampons, pads, or panty liners.

No registration is required—the organizers request that viewers show up and support local women filmmakers.
