U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recommended Americans to get their measles vaccinations on Wednesday, amid an outbreak affecting 23 states.

His previous comments stated that the measles vaccines were "unnecessary and risky."

Over 600 cases have been confirmed by the Center for Disease Control in a recent publication dated April 3.

There have been two confirmed deaths in Texas because of measles, so officials are expressing the urgency of prevention by vaccination.

"I always said during my campaign and every part," Kennedy Jr. said. "I'm not gonna take people's vaccines away from them."

RFK Jr. stated he wants to have "good science" so that people can make an informed choice.

Doctors from across the nation have instructed their patients on reducing the spread of the disease, which is strongly affecting states with lower vaccination rates.
