Law enforcement in Oologah are on scene south of downtown after a train derailed Tuesday.

Sources say the train was moving at a slow speed when the derailment happened.

When Did The Train Derail?

The twelve car Union Pacific train went off the tracks early Tuesday night just south of downtown near the intersection of State Highway 88 and 169.

Union Pacific sent News On 6 the following statement:

Around 6:30 pm CDT, approximately a dozen rail cars derailed in an upright position in Oologah, Oklahoma. No one was injured and there were no releases. The incident is under investigation.

What’s The Traffic Impact?

State Highway 88 is closed just east of 169, along with several other nearby intersections, including the entrance to the nearby power plant. You should expect delays while crews work to clean up the derailment.

How Long Is The Train?

131 cars long.

What Was It Carrying?

Our crew on scene reports the train looks to be hauling coal. The nearby power plant runs on coal.

Was Anybody Hurt?

No.
