If you're flying out today, this is actually a decent day to fly out, but if you're returning to Oklahoma City on Sunday you might pay 10 percent more than if you waited to fly back on Tuesday. This is advice reported by the Wall Street Journal.
It's a double whammy on Sundays. Leisure travelers are returning and business travelers leaving, that's why it's more expensive.
The cheapest tickets are leaving on a Tuesday and returning on a Tuesday. The most expensive months to fly right now are July, because of all the summer travelers, and December for the holidays. But the cheapest months are January and February. You will save almost 30 percent.
The best days to log online and buy your ticket doesn't apply as much. You can search almost any day of the week and use Kayak.com or Hopper.com. These will tell you lowest prices with a "buy now" feature.
