Student Arrested After Bringing Loaded Gun To Bethany Middle School

A student was arrested after authorities said he brought a loaded gun to Bethany Middle School, Wednesday morning.

According to Bethany police, the gun was in the student’s backpack. Another student told a teacher about the incident, who then told the principal. The principal took the student into his office, recovered the gun, and called police.

The middle school was briefly placed under a lockdown as police investigated the incident.  Police said the student tried to escape the principal’s office, leading to a brief scuffle before officers arrived. 

Schools officials said they are taking “reasonable disciplinary action” against the student.
