Usually, if a police officer pulls you over or knocks at your door, you may get a little concerned. However, that fear turned to tears of joy in Harrah.
Police officers have been distributing fifty dollar bills to several residents who have the financial need.
Harrah’s Assembly of God, Countryside Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church of Harrah have raised more than $3,000 for police to distribute. Harrah’s school district helped police identify families with the most financial need.
Janice Hughes’ husband Robert has been very ill and unable to work. She was one of the recipients Wednesday, when Corporal Josh Stone stopped by their home.
The Hughes have raised their 12-year-old granddaughter since birth, even though they are not biologically-related, Janice Hughes said it was the right thing to do.
“It’s not much, but we hope it will help you have a good Christmas and a good holiday.” Janice Hughes responded by hugging the Stone and crying,” said Corporal Stone.
“You don’t know how much it did! Thank you so much!” replied Janice.
