July 5 is one of the busiest days of the year for animal control in Oklahoma City.
With many pets getting loose after being frightened by fireworks, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is swamped with strays after the July 4 holiday.
Oklahoma City Animal Control said if your pet is brought in and has an ID, they will contact you to come pick them up.
But if not - it's up to you to act fast.
"If you've lost your animal, you need to come and check the shelter every couple of days," said Julie Bank of Oklahoma City Animal Welfare. "The legal hold period for an animal is three days if it has no identification."
