Suspect Arrested For Stealing OKC Man's Money During Craigslist Transaction

A man is in jail, accused of stealing an Oklahoma City man's money during a Craigslist transaction. He also led him on a chase through Edmond.

The victim says he brought $300 cash with him in order to buy a used cell phone he saw on craigslist. And when he walked up to the seller's car, the seller grabbed the cash and took off. But the victim took off after him, only to have the seller slam his truck into his Mercedes.

The entire front end of the victim's ruby red Mercedes was smashed and trashed.

"When I was following him at first, he kept break checking me and that's when I hit him," said Mohammad Aljazzazi, the victim. "And he kept leaning into me and hitting me."

Aljazzazi is now out more than just the $200 that got taken from him, he's out thousands. And now he's kicking himself that he did not listen to his intuition.

"The guy was backed into the gas station, and wouldn't get out of the car," he said. "So when I saw that I thought something was suspicious."

Mohamad owns Meridian Auto repair and says 23-year-old John Richard Miller is the man who he met and, who he says, placed an ad on Craigslist, selling an I-phone.

Mohamed says Miller then took his money, and took off.

"I pulled the money to show him I'm serious," he said. "And he just snatched it. Snatched the money and kept driving."

But Mohammad took off after him, although now he wishes he hadn't, especially considering all the damage to his car.

But he says this won't keep him from buying things on Craigslist.

"A lot of people do business right," said Aljazzazi. "Just some people like the easy money, you know?"

Turns out Oklahoma City police arrested Miller just a few miles away at his home, after Mohammad was able to give them his license plate information and they were able to track it down.

Oklahoma City police say they do take quite a few reports of Craigslist deals gone bad. They advise people to enter all of these transactions with caution, meet at a public place. And if something just doesn't feel right, then walk away.

Miller is still in the Oklahoma County jail on $20,000 bond. He's been there five times before on multiple city violations.
