A judge has sentenced a 17-year-old boy to six years in prison for the fiery deaths of an elderly couple in July 2011.

Tristan Owen was convicted in February of throwing Molotov cocktails into the southwest Oklahoma City home of Boyd and Doris Haynes. The house caught fire, and the couple died of smoke inhalation, just hours before they were supposed to move into a nursing home.

Owen was 15 years old at the time of the crime.

A jury found Owen guilty of two counts of manslaughter and one count of arson. A judge sentenced Owen Friday to eight years in prison, with two years suspended.
