ECU Basketball Coach Steps Down

Mac McConnell has stepped down as the men's basketball coach at East Central University. McConnell has been the head coach of the program for two seasons.

According to a press release from the school's athletics department, McConnell has stepped down to pursue other opportunities and the search for a new coach is underway.

"We would like to thank coach McConnell for his service the past two years and wish him the best in his future endeavors," ECU director of athletics Jeff Williams said. "We are opening a national search for our next head coach, effective immediately."

McConnell was arrested for driving under the influence in January and was suspended from his duties as head coach at that time.
