St. Gregory's snapped a six-game losing skid with a doubleheader sweep of Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College Tuesday afternoon in Moore. The Cavaliers won 7-2 in the first game before shutting out the Saints 9-0 in the nightcap.
In Game 1, Joey Moreno picked up his second complete-game victory in his last three starts. The junior right-hander gave up two earned runs on six base hits. He struck out four and walked six to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Jacob Ratliff led the Cavs offensively with a 3-for-4 effort. Christian Torres had a double with two RBIs, and J.J. Egler chipped in with a 2-for-4 game, also with two RBIs.
Julian Estrada dominated on the mound in the nightcap. He scattered five hits, struck out two and walked two in a complete-game shutout.
SGU got two-hit games from Jordan Funtila and Brian Bartlett in Game 2. Funtila hit two doubles with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bartlett, meanwhile, finished with a 2-for-3 game that included two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Mark Milioto added his first home run of the season - a two-run shot - as the Cavs tallied their highest run total since Feb. 9.
