Logan County Deputy Fired After Making Up Story About Intruder

A Logan County Sheriff's deputy was fired after authorities say he made up the story about being attacked by an intruder at his home Monday morning.

A Logan County Sheriff's deputy was fired after authorities say he made up the story about being attacked by an intruder at his home Monday morning.

The deputy told authorities that a man armed with a kitchen knife broke into his home, located in the 300 block of E. Mansur in Guthrie, and stabbed him. The deputies stated he fired one shot at the intruder as he was trying to leave the home. He said the suspect was not hit.

However, according to a press release from the Guthrie Police Department and Logan County Sheriff's Office, authorities determined that there was no intruder, and the assault was fabricated.

The deputy has been fired. Investigators say they will submit a report to the District Attorney's Office.

The deputy's identity has not been released.

Guthrie Police recommended police put schools on lockdown as a precaution, but the lockdown was lifted after a couple of hours.
