Cleveland County Sheriff's Office To Hire Detention Officers, Dispatchers

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for detention officers and dispatchers.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for detention officers and dispatchers.

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and a United States citizen. Annual salary begins at $31,000 for detention officers and $31,500 for dispatchers. Insurance and benefits will be provided.

The Sheriff's office seeks employees with a high-degree of ethical standards and moral character. Applicants must have sound judgment and the ability to think quickly.

Job requirements for detention officers and dispatchers include the following:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Must pass a background investigation, polygraph exam and drug test. Both positions require employees work shifts in a 24/7 operation.
  • Applicants cannot have any felony or major misdemeanor convictions nor pending criminal charges.
  • Applicants cannot have any domestic abuse convictions or a domestic violence record.
