CANADIAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -- The wife of the late Nichols Hills Fire Chief Keith Bryan stood before a judge in Canadian County on Friday. The arraignment lasted around ten minutes.
Becky Bryan walked into the courtroom and smiled at her family. Bryan then turned to her son and whispered, "I love you."
Bryan pleaded not guilty to a First-Degree murder charge. Becky's husband, Keith Bryan died from a gunshot wound to the head on September 21.
Becky Bryan initially told police an intruder shot and killed her husband. Defense Attorney Gary James said only two percent of the facts have been released in this case.
"I've had a lot of not guilty verdicts in murder cases and all of those people think you are guilty when it starts," James said.
The attorney is asking everyone to reserve making judgment about Becky Bryan. He said Bryan's family is supporting her through the court process.
"We had a good meeting this morning before we came in the courtroom and got to spend some time with her and put her at ease about some things," James said.
The attorney did not request a bond be set but he plans to do so at a later date. The next court date is set for November 4.
