JONES, Oklahoma – Sometimes the best football games aren't in the biggest classes.
News 9's Game of the Week went out to watch the Jones Longhorns come away with a 23-18 victory against the Hennessey Eagles on Friday night.
Though the game wasn't really a high-scoring affair, it was intense throughout.
Hennessey got on the board first, but Jones responded with a field goal to cut the lead to 6-3, and that score stuck until halftime.
The Longhorns came out firing in the third, as senior quarterback Michael Lowe connected with Andrew Herzer for a 15-yard score to put Jones up 10-6.
The offenses began to fire back and forth. Ivan Moreno responded with a 53-yard touchdown run that put the Eagles back on top, 12-10.
But Lowe was not to be outdone, as he topped 400 passing yards on the night.
Lowe hooked up with fellow senior and favorite target Tyler Seabolt for a 27-yard touchdown to put his team up 17-12 after three quarters.
Sticking with the scoring pattern, Hennessey responded again to take a brief lead, but Lowe saved his best for last on the night.
He put the finishing touches on his night with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Herzer that would prove to be the winning score.
Jones moved to 2-0 on the young season and will visit Mount Saint Mary next Friday.
Hennessey (1-1) will host Kingfisher next weekend.
