NORMAN, Oklahoma -- A Lincoln County man is named the Oklahoma Emergency Management Association's Public Official of the Year.
Lincoln County District 2 Commissioner Rick Taylor received the award for his dedication and continued dedication in Emergency Management. He was honored during the Annual State Emergency Management Conference in Norman on August 24.
According to Lincoln County Emergency Management, Taylor is (NIMS) National Incident Management System compliant, which is crucial in securing FEMA funding. Taylor was vital in securing funding for the refurbishing and modernization of the Lincoln County Emergency Operations Center.
Taylor also was involved in securing funding for the Mobile Communications Unit that serves all of Lincoln County.
Rick Taylor started his career with Lincoln County in 1982 right after high school working as a member of the District 2 road crew. In January of 2005 Mr. Taylor was promoted to Road Foreman, and then in August of 2006 Mr. Taylor was appointed as interim Commissioner. Rick expeditiously caught on to his new responsibilities. In November of 2006 Rick was elected as the Lincoln County District 2 Commissioner and was sworn into office January of 2007.
