OKLAHOMA CITY -- The RedHawks' offense and a gem from Andy Van Hekken lifted Oklahoma City to its third consecutive win over the Memphis Redbirds 7-0 Saturday.
Van Hekken (5-4) pitched seven innings for the RedHawks (45-57), giving up just three hits and striking out eight in the win. Adam Ottavino (3-7) lasted just two full innings for Memphis (51-50), getting pulled after walking in back-to-back runs in the third. He finished with five hits and five earned runs.
Oklahoma City started the scoring in the bottom, of a third with three consecutive singles, capped off by an RBI single to center by J.B. Shuck to bring Van Hekken home from second. Ottavino then walked three consecutive batters, to score Luis Durango and Shuck to give Oklahoma City a 3-0 lead.
After Ottavino was pulled, Drew Locke grounded into a double play, allowing J.R. Towles to score, followed by a RBI single from Oswald Navarro to take a five-run advantage.
In the bottom of the fourth, Luis Durango tripled to center field to score Van Hekken a second time, and two batters later J.R. Towles singled to third to bring Durango home to make it a 7-0 lead.
The RedHawks will try to pull off the series sweep at 7:05 p.m. Monday, capping off the first of two series in the 12-game home stand.
