OKLAHOMA CITY -- The woman who accidentally backed over an 18-month-old girl in southwest Oklahoma City has been arrested.

Oklahoma City police said Vivre Vargas was having a garage sale at her house in the 1600 block of S.W. 32nd Street Thursday when she accidentally ran over Yailine Vargas, her niece. Relatives said when Vivre Vargas went to move her truck, no one realized the little girl had followed her and was behind the vehicle.

Vargas told police she meant to go forward, but accidentally put her truck in reverse and backed over the child.

Although police believe it was an accident, Vargas did not have a driver's license. She was arrested, and now faces several charges, including causing an accident with death without a state license, illegal backing, and driving without a state license.
