We have reached the pinnacle of this five-week endeavor. And the most meaningless, irrelevant, unreliable college football poll in the nation concludes with the Buckeyes at #1.
Terrelle Pryor and Ohio State won their final six games in 2009, including an impressive 26-17 win over Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Similar to Virginia Tech, the Buckeyes return virtually their entire offense, and you know theyll be good on defense. The dual-threat Pryor is joined by talented backs Brandon Saine and Boom Herron in the backfield. And has a plethora of options in the receiving game...DeVier Posey, Dane Sanzenbacher and tight end Jake Stoneburner. Theyll be balanced and unpredictable.
Defensively, Jim Tressel has some holes to fill. Five starters are gone. But the front seven will be among the best in the country led by Cameron Heyward, Dexter Larimore, Ross Homan and Brian Rolle.
Ohio State has three key hurdles to clear in 2010. The first coming this Saturday when they welcome Jacory Harris and Miami to The Horseshoe. The Buckeyes must also try to find wins at Wisconsin and at Iowa. I think they get them all.
Prediction: 12-0
