TopGolf OKC Opens To Public Starting Friday

Golf lovers may have found their new favorite hang-out spot. But, you don't have to be a golf expert to have fun at Oklahoma City's newest entertainment attraction.

Topgolf OKC opens to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday. Located at 13313 Pawnee Drive, the new 65,000-square-foot facility is the company's 17th location worldwide.

Topgolf features seven competitive games and advanced technology to track the accuracy and distance of players' shots. Constructed by ARCO/Murray, the three-level Topgolf OKC includes: 102 climate-controlled hitting bays; a full-service restaurant and three bars; more than 250 high-definition flat-screen TVs; a rooftop terrace with fire pits; and 3,000 square feet of private event space.

The Topgolf app, available for free download on iTunes and Google Play, allows users to change the channel on the TV in each hitting bay.

“We can't wait to open our doors to the Oklahoma City community,” said Topgolf OKC Director of Operations Jonathan Buckley. “We've had people stopping by constantly over the past few weeks, eager to find out when we would be open. The community has really embraced us, and we are so excited to show them what Topgolf is all about. We will be hosting golf tournaments and leagues, activities for kids, themed costume parties, and live music on our rooftop terrace. Even if you don't play golf, there will be no shortage of things to do here.”

Thursday night, Topgolf OKC hosted a VIP preview event, attracting monthly members, community leaders, social media contest winners and even celebrities, such as Oklahoma City Thunder player Jeremy Lamb and head football coach of Oklahoma State University, Mike Gundy.

News 9 had the opportunity to speak to Lamb, who said even though he's not good at golf, this is a place he would definitely come back.

“This is great. They got a nice DJ, great food and drinks. It's all fun and games when you are playing golf,” said Lamb. “Most people I come with are not good, but we are all trying to do our best at it. It's just fun trying to do your best, but at the same time, everybody is laughing and giggling. It's a great atmosphere, a lot of nice people.”

Coach Gundy also tweeted about his experience at Topgolf OKC, “Thank you to everyone at @TopgolfOKC. First class event tonight. Amazing facilities, great hospitality and a lot of fun. #Ilovetopgolf.”
