According to an incident report, the woman told police her boyfriend, 32-year-old Christopher Reid Birchmier, beat and strangled her. She also claims he commanded his pit bull, "Butter," to attack her.

Birchmier heard the charges against him for the first time as he appeared before a judge via video on Friday. He's on crutches because his dog also attacked him.

The judge set his bond at $86,000.

The dog is still being quarantined.
