The City of Tulsa says they will reopen Riverside Drive at the Gathering Place on September 10th.
Riverside Drive was closed in both directions in July 2015 as part of the construction of the Gathering Place.
“When Riverside Drive reopens on September 10, it will be one of the iconic stretches of road in our city,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “As Tulsans will see, it has been straightened and leveled. But most importantly, it will transport people through the majesty of the Gathering Place and River Parks. This is an exciting time for Tulsa.”
On Friday, June 8th, the Gathering Place will open to the public on September 8th.

Because Riverside Drive will be a major route to the Gathering Place, Tulsa says they have made approximately $40 million in improvements to Riverside and nearby infrastructure.

“We're looking forward to seeing people and their reaction to it because it's such a different difference than the old Blair Mansion lawn out there, totally flat. There isn't a flat spot out there since this project; it's almost like you're driving through a valley section. It's really neat,” said Paul Zachary with the City of Tulsa.
The road will carry traffic in and out for the opening weekend, September 8, but regular through traffic will be allowed the following Monday September 10th.
