OKLAHOMA CITY -- Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze after a vehicle caught fire in a northwest Oklahoma City auto shop.
Crews were on the scene in the 4000 block of N. Western Avenue near 46 Street at the Northwest Automotive Service and Repair Shop.
A vehicle caught fire inside the auto repair shop. Residents in the area reported seeing a stream of fire come from one of the vehicles inside the shop and then an explosion.
An employee was working on a gas tank when he accidentally dropped his shop light in the tank. When the bulb burst, it ignited the gas tank. Employees tried to put out the fire, but it spread too quickly.
Oklahoma City firefighters were able to gain control of the blaze, but high winds threatened to spread the blaze to area businesses.
EMSA treated one of the auto shop employees for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
