MIDWEST CITY, Okla. - A bank robbery placed two Midwest City schools on lockdown Wednesday afternoon.
The armed robbery took place around 3:15 p.m. at Chase Bank, 301 N Midwest Blvd.
Police said the man jumped over the teller counter and fired at least one shot before leaving the bank. He ran from the bank into the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex.
The robber was described as a white male in his 20s or 30s, and was around 5 feet 7 inches tall. He had long brown or brownish-red hair that was pulled into a ponytail. He was wearing a blue ball cap with a white cloth pulled over his face, a gray shirt and blue jeans, police said.
Police believe the man could have visited the bank two hours earlier.
Midwest City Police Department requested a search dog, and Oklahoma City Police Department's search helicopter was dispatched.
Police locked down both Ridgecrest Elementary School and Monroney Junior High School due to the vicinity of the robbery.
Oklahoma Bankers Association offered a $2,000 reward for information about the robbery.
