EDMOND, Okla. -- An Edmond man led led police on a high-speed car chase through the metro Thursday afternoon.

Jacob Allen Rodriquez, 27, began to lead police at about 2:50 p.m. after he was stopped during a routine traffic stop in Edmond.

"I asked him if he has any form of ID, he said ‘no'," Officer Jim O'Neill said. "I asked him to step out of his vehicle to verify who he was and he told me no."

Rodriquez then sped off and led police officers through north Oklahoma City at speeds up to 100 mph on Interstates 44 and 35.

Rodriquez hit a vehicle during the chase but no injuries were reported, police said.

"Our number one goal is to keep everyone safe," O'Neill said. "This guy had total disregard for anybody's life."

Police forced Rodriquez to stop the vehicle near NE 23 and Interstate 35 where he was taken into police custody.

No one was injured during the chase.

Rodriquez was arrested on complaints running a road block, leaving the scene of a non-injury accident and operating a vehicle with defective equipment, among other charges. He also had a Logan County warrant and two traffic warrants out of Oklahoma City, according to police.
