Glenpool Student Arrested After High School Walkout

A Glenpool High School student is in jail after a fight broke out over opinions of a student walkout Wednesday. 

Glenpool police said the fight between two boys happened around 11:30 a.m. at the high school over differing opinions of the student led walkout protesting school gun violence. 

The argument, according to reports, originated on Snapchat.

Reports said one boy, 16, was taken to the hospital by his parents after the fight. Police said his injuries appear to be non-life threatening but may require surgery. 

Officers arrested the other boy, 17, on complaints of aggravated assault and battery. 

Reports say he will be booked as a youthful offender. 

Glenpool Public Schools released this statement regarding the fight: 

Glenpool Public Schools is aware of a student fight which occurred on campus after the lunch period as students were transitioning back to class. The fight occurred at 11:25 approximately one and a half hour after a student led campus walk-out protesting school violence.  Law enforcement and authorities have been made aware of the incident and are investigating. The District is unable to offer any additional detail as the fight involved two district students whose information is subject to protection under both state and federal law. Glenpool Public Schools will fully investigate the incident and take any necessary action allowed under its policies.
