The cold front is now located across far southern OK and the return of fall weather is underway!   Temperatures this morning will start in the 50s with some early morning showers quickly ending.   The clouds will decrease from the northwest to southeast later today with north winds and cool weather.  We should see some sun around noon in the metro and through the afternoon across the southeastern third.

WARN Interactive Radar

Daytime highs should stay in the mid-60s for most of eastern OK while a few spots may reach 70.   Friday night football games will be chilly with games starting and ending in the 50s for most locations.

Several pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall occurred across portions of the area yesterday and last night with some 2-day totals from 3 to 7 inches across far northern and northwestern sections of our area.

The upper air flow will bring a disturbance near the area Monday night into Tuesday but the lack of any deep moisture in the atmosphere will limit the precipitation output greatly.  Another system should approach Wednesday into Thursday, and the data this morning is now bringing a front southward into northern OK during this period.   The EURO is more bullish with precip while the GFS is offering a small precipitation solution.   We’ll more than likely keep the low end chance for the Wednesday night into Thursday morning period on the planner.

The air mass will be much drier for the next few days and this will have a big impact on morning lows.   Saturday morning temperatures may be in the mid to upper 30s across part of northeastern and east central OK with clear sky and light winds.   The metro region will not be this cold but will be cool with Saturday morning lows in the lower 40s.   Northeast winds will remain Saturday with sunshine and daytime highs in the lower to mid-70s.

Sunday the winds will return from the east or southeast and bring a minor warm-up into early next week.   Morning lows will move back into the 50s early next week with highs in the lower 80s.   If the Wednesday pm and Thursday morning front does make a jog into northern OK, our temps will drop a few degrees Thursday with most locations in the upper 60s or lower 70s.
