It's a bittersweet Christmas for a Tulsa icon. After more than 100 years in Tulsa, Miss Jackson's at Utica Square is celebrating its last holiday season.

It's a shock to the system this holiday season - seeing Miss Jackson's, known for luxury goods and designer products, almost empty.

Shoppers we spoke to say their memories of the store date back to their childhood.

Shopper Alexandra Jalili said, "I've shopped here since I was a little girl."

She remembers playing with lipstick at the cosmetic counter - one of the areas where items remain for sale.

She and many shoppers are saying goodbye this week.

Jalili said, "It's just truly a Tulsa icon, and it's just not Utica Square without Miss Jackson's."

Sharon Haltom grew up in Tulsa, moved to Dallas, and is back here for Christmas, so she had to make a stop.

"It was always fun at Christmas, with Utica Square being decked out. Miss Jackson's, I mean, it was Tulsa. It was Tulsa," she said.

Few understand that better than General Manager, Judy White.

"I just keep hearing about, 'Oh, my mother used to shop over here,’ and, ‘You know I moved away, but we still come back,'" she said.

The season's been full of visits from lifelong customers and former employees.

White said, "It's sad and nice at the same time, but it's hard to see everything go."

Along with the inventory is the loss of a local department store, a rarity in retail.

White has no idea which retailer will fill Miss Jackson's shoes.

"I'm sure whatever they bring in is going to be something that will fit Tulsa," she said.

Jalili said, "It's like a goodbye. And it's, it's sad."

Miss Jackson's is not selling its display cases or chandeliers.

Helmerich & Payne owns Utica Square, and Miss Jackson's, and will determine who the next tenant will be.
