The Home Depot store in Owasso is building good will in the community. When employees learned a customer needed a wheelchair ramp for her elderly mother - they wasted no time getting involved.
They built the ramp from scratch Friday, free of charge.
Jean Sylvester said her mother injured herself in a fall, and they were having trouble negotiating the stairs leading up to their home. She went to Home Depot but left, frustrated and not sure what to do next. A few minutes later, store employees called and said they wanted to install a ramp for free.
"It's our culture; it's what we do," said Angela Bajek, a manager at the store.
Sylvester said she was humbled by what the employees were doing for her and her mother.
"I am just overwhelmed by the support," she said. "I asked them what can I do for you, and they just said 'we want to bless you.'"
