The Broken Arrow Fire Department officially opened its newest fire station Monday morning.
Fire station #2 is located in the 2300 block of West Norfolk Drive. It will replace the fire station in the 2900 block of South Elm Place.
The new station will house 18 firefighters, a fire truck and an ambulance. It will also be the city's second biggest fire station.
"We anticipated growth in the southern portions of Broken Arrow which is why we strategically placed this station near the Creek Turnpike," said Broken Arrow Fire Chief Jeff VanDolah. "With the announcement of Warren Theatre and the Shops at Aspen Creek last month, we are even more fortunate to have this station opening in its current location."
The $3 million, 11,848- square-foot facility was funded by a 2008 bond issue that shifted money from a 2004 bond issue.
