MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Tubby Smith is being introduced as the new head men's basketball coach at Minnesota Friday. He left Kentucky Thursday for a shot to rebuild the Big-Ten school. In ten years at Kentucky, Smith's teams won 76% of their games, five SEC championships and one national title, but that wasn't enough to satisfy the basketball fans of the Bluegrass State.
At Minnesota, he replaces the fired Dan Monson.
Earlier Friday on ESPN2, Smith said he's looking forward to the challenge of building the Gophers program and views his new job as, "a new start."
