It was appointment TV for me Wednesday afternoon, for Amanda and David too they tell me, so it was at first disappointing when SpaceX scrubbed the launch of two astronauts from Florida.
Lightning, even a brief tornado warning was enough to make SpaceX flight controllers postpone the launch.
But now that I think about it, that delay could be a real boost to NASA, because millions of Americans were working and wouldn't have seen the launch live, now they can sit down with their families and watch it Saturday afternoon.
NSA needs the shot in the arm, piggybacking off of the Russians any time we need a ride into space hasn't been a real morale booster.
And let's face it, this Elon Musk the technology whiz who founded Space X, is sort of the modern day version of a young Howard Hughes, the eccentric billionaire who himself pushed the limits of aviation.
Musk dreams of colonizing other planets and this first mission, now scheduled for lift off Saturday, could make or break those aspirations.
I realize flying to the Space Station is a far cry from journeying to Mars, but think of it, five years ago did you imagine that American astronauts would return to space on a billionaire's rocket ship.
That's a compelling storyline.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
