A new field office will open for the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission to serve Oklahoma City residents looking for unemployment help.

This location is just two miles north of the capitol near Northeast 50th Street and Lincoln Boulevard. It will be a larger location that can hopefully better serve people who still need help with unemployment claims.

In the metro, the OKC Eastside location was open for people, the other location is in Shawnee. They will now be closing the east location and bringing the staff and resources from there and the previously closed Brookwood location.

The OESC is hoping this new location will be able to serve more people in the metro due to its location.

In a statement, OESC Interim Director Shelley Zumwalt said, "We're shifting staff and resources to this one centrally-located facility to provide more access in the Oklahoma City area. The larger space allows us to serve more Oklahomans, as well as continue to provide space for social distancing measures."

The OESC has 27 locations across Oklahoma where people can go for unemployment assistance.
