McLain High School Educators Take Pie To Face After Reading Competition

A couple of Tulsa Schools are making reading a whole lot sweeter.

Students at McLain and Monroe have been competing for the last few months to see who could read the most. The losing school’s librarian and principal would have to take a pie to the face.

Monroe students came out on top this month, reading 3.9 million words over McLain’s 3.7 million words.

“Reading is one of those things that the more practice you have, the better you get with it,” McLain High School Principal Renee Rabovsky said. “The more practice you have, the higher reading level you’re at and we don’t want our kids to lose all the growth that they have made through the years.”

School administrators said their goal is to keep students’ skills sharp as they spend more time away from the classroom.
