Advocates for Oklahoma Death Row inmate Julius Jones are kicking off the new year with a walk, over 100 miles long, to the state penitentiary in McAlester on Thursday Morning.
According to organizers, the goal of this walk is to raise awareness and ask that clemency be granted in the case of death row inmate Julius Jones.

Five advocates plan to spend four days making the walk, in support of Jones, who has spent the last 19 years on Oklahoma's Death Row, after being convicted of first-degree murder in 1999.
Supporters around the country, including multiple celebrities, have advocated for Jones' innocence.

One organizer, Jabee Williams, said, "We will probably have to get hotels, we will probably be camping, we will probably be sleeping in cars."
The walk began on Thursday morning at around 5:30 a.m. The group plans to get to McAlester by January 3.
