Injury Accident Involving Semi-Truck Causes Traffic Delays On I-40, I-44

Emergency crews are working to clean up after a crash early Friday morning involving a semi-truck near Interstate 40 and Interstate 44.

According to authorities, the accident on the Amarillo Junction took place around 4 a.m. The westbound off-ramp from I-40 to southbound I-44 and the westbound I-44 ramp to eastbound I-40 are closed.

One person was taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. Their condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the semi-truck was hauling several trailers. Some of the trailers fell over the edge of the overpass.

Wrecker crews on the scene said the road closures are expected to continue for several hours, impacting Friday morning rush hour.
