Construction is coming to another section of Tulsa’s interstate system. Oklahoma Transportation commissioners approved a project Monday to repair parts of the IDL.
It's a $31 million project that's focused on the eastern leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop, the highway that surrounds downtown Tulsa.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation began rebuilding the IDL in 2009, as part of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The southern leg of the IDL near Denver Ave was rebuilt a little more than a year ago and this eastern leg is the final portion to be rebuilt.
ODOT said this project will span nearly two miles and will take about two years to finish once the work begins.
Crews will repair the pavement and rehabilitate the bridges in the area.
"I can't emphasize enough, please be patient with us to the traveling public. Number two, you're going to see some work zones out there over the course of the summer, so be really careful whenever you encounter a work zone area," Oklahoma Secretary of Transportation Tim Gatz said.
ODOT is also planning on repairing pavement on a section of US-169 after the recent winter weather.
