The City of Broken Arrow is hosting a block party and fireworks show in the New Orleans Square area on the south side of town. The marketing team will unveil a new logo for the area as part of a rebranding effort to revitalize the area.
Erin Hofener, the city’s marketing technician, said New Orleans Square, which is at the intersection of Elm Place and New Orleans Street, is an area they have had their eyes on for a while. They hope a logo will help give the area an identity.
Hofener said the area is starting to see some development, including a Josh’s SnoShack and soon a Reasor’s. She said the city’s vision is to keep the area growing.
On Thursday evening, a block party is planned to help attract people to the area. There will be a car show, kid zone, food trucks, live music and a fireworks display.
“The point of these events is just to bring people out here, let them see it, let them see our vision that we have for the area,” said Hofener. “Hopefully they buy in and help support the area whether it be opening a shop here or just visiting one of the merchants here.”
The block party is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
