Former Watonga Chief Facing Assault And Battery, Burglary Complaints

A former Watonga police department chief is facing multiple complaints stemming from an arrest caught on video.

A former Watonga police department chief is facing multiple complaints stemming from an arrest caught on video.

Shawn Kays is now facing assault and battery as well as a burglary complaint.

A probable cause affidavit shows that these complaints are related to a 2019 video where Kays was seen forcefully arresting a woman named Julia Cosby.

There is now a warrant out for Kays' arrest.

Blaine County officials told News 9 that the investigation into obscene material involving Kays is still ongoing.
