Tulsa County is redeveloping a 15-acre section of Chandler Park that’s been off-limits to the public since 2007.

The Lower Level of Chandler Park was used for storm debris from the ice storm, and was closed for safety.

The renovation of the area will include parking, restrooms, and an overlook with a view of downtown. The site is a former rock quarry that closed, and the owner donated the land to the County.

It’s just part of the larger, 20- acre Chandler Park.

“There's birds, there's wildlife, it's amazing that something like this is right across the river,” said Francis Dodson, the Communications Manager for the Park.

When it opens, the lower level will be accessible by rock stairs from above, and new trails will connect with the existing trails and the “Lost City” trail head.
