People in Broken Arrow are getting a look at the master plan for a new park proposed by city leaders.
A 53-acre piece of land on the southwest side of Broken Arrow off Florence Street between Olive and Aspen will be known as Elam Park, a name the city council unanimously settled on Tuesday night.
A draft master plan presented by city leaders shows what the park might look like. Among several other things, the plan includes a community center, a skatepark, and an 18-hole disc golf course.
The city said the entire proposed plan would cost about $51 million. Voters already approved $3 million for the park as part of a General Obligation bond in 2018. That will fund phase one of the project which is scheduled to start in late 2023.
Folks will get the chance to review the plan and ask questions at a public meeting on Sept. 16 at Aspen Creek Elementary.
If authorized by city council, people would have the chance to vote on the project in the next bond package planned for 2028.
