September 21 is World Alzheimer's Day. The disease effects more than 6 million people in the United States.
Alzheimer's is caused by dementia. Dementia is not a specific disease but rather a general term for the impaired ability to think, remember or make decisions that interferes with doing everyday activities.
There is currently no cure for Alzheimer's or dementia.
