Union Public Schools (UPS) is holding a special open house for parents and families to get a first look at its new e-sports arena.

The Oklahoma eSports League, which UPS launched, allows students in member schools grades 6 through 12 to compete in several popular video games.

Earlier in October, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) voted to make eSports a championship activity.

Union School leaders say more than 150 students showed up for tryouts on Friday. The open house will allow the students to show off the new facility to their parents.

There will be open/free play and even some Union students competing against other schools.

The open house is happening at the Freshman Academy near 71st and Garnett from 5 to 6 p.m.
