The Federal Bureau of Investigation is working alongside the Chickasaw Lighthorse investigators following a murder in Chickasha.
According to the FBI, Chickasha police responded the evening of October 19 to the 900 block of South 13th Street.
An individual was found dead when officers arrived to the scene.
“Me and the roommate come outside, and we saw a bunch of craziness going around,” neighbor Dylan Summers said. “Then they started flagging everything off then the city put up barricades. “
Chickasha police said a man was found in the backyard of the home with obvious signs of homicide.
Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the FBI are leading the investigation due to the victim’s tribal affiliation.
“This is a quiet neighborhood, really wasn’t expecting something like this to happen,” Summers said. “I didn’t really know the son to much too well, but I was neighbors with him for three years.”
In that time, Summers said he grew fond of his neighbor and family. Processing what happened has been difficult.
“When he (victim) would mow the lawn, I would talk to him. He was a really great person,” Summers said. “They were really sweet when I met them, when I lived over there at the house.”
The FBI said one person has been taken into custody, arrested at the home.
No further information regarding the suspect or victim was released.
The investigation is ongoing.
