Eighty-one-year-old Carolyn Trammell is an accountant at Arrow Wrecker who understands the importance of good recordkeeping.

That’s why she has kept all the receipts to her very first big purchase.

“This is honey gold,” Trammell said about her 1965 Ford Mustang.

She ordered Ford’s first Mustang in July 1964, having only her learner’s permit.

“I never learned to drive that well,” Trammell joked.

Trammell paid $3,050 for the Mustang that arrived in October of that year.

She still has her original receipt which shows she paid an extra $287 for air conditioning.

“Every time you stopped at a stop light someone would pull up and rev it and I just put my foot down and went,” Trammell said.

The Mustang was Carolyn's daily driver for 15 years before it ended up parked in a garage for years.

When she retired from full-time work in 2005, she decided she had the time to restore the Mustang back to its original glory.

Today, the vehicle looks almost exactly like it did in 1964 when Trammell drove it off the lot.

Trammell has taken the Mustang to various car shows and now has a driver for longer trips.

“I just don’t want to put someone it that I’m not sure they know how to drive,” Trammell said.

“She’d tell me to slow down and occasionally threaten me, but then she’d just sit back and ride,” good friend and driver Lant Gallup said.

Trammell said she'll eventually sell the classic car, but for now, she’s still having too much fun with it.

“It’s just part of me. It’s part of who I am,” Trammell said.
