“It's exciting, it's a level of relief you know we're coming into the holidays you know you're thinking about buying Christmas gifts and things of that nature, to have one of those burdens lightened at some level is greatly appreciated by our community,” Jonathon Veal with Restore OKC said.

Restore OKC contacted 400 families from schools in the Northeast community to receive these Thanksgiving meal giveaway bags.

“That's what life is all about, got to be happy some kind of way. The good Lord bless you and good things come to those who wait,” Jerry James said.

Oklahoma City Thunder players were in charge of loading the bags into cars.

“People need this. Thanksgiving is a time of giving obviously you know you have so much to be thankful for especially the position we're in, in our lives. Not too many of us were far from where these people are. Us giving us the chance to be able to reach back and give back is always good,” Darius Bazley said.

Last year, the players did not get to participate in the giveaway. They said the best part of being back is seeing the smiles on their fans' faces.

“It's a place where we just give food and just spend some time with your family and sometimes some people can't afford it. It's just good for us to be able to give back to them,” Lu Dort said.

This is the 14th season of the Turkey dinner giveaway. Thunder players said their goal is to spread holiday cheer by making sure Oklahomans aren't going without for the holidays.

This is just the start of the Oklahoma City Thunder's holiday assist program. They said there's going to be a lot more events throughout the holiday season.
